As you navigate and negotiate your way through life, it becomes obvious that your personal journey is made up of tests and trials that take you beyond your natural abilities. This is when your faith will matter most! By understanding how the faith principles described in this book can be applied to all areas of your life, you will develop a great cumulative sense of assurance in the underlying laws, in yourself, and in your ability to apply these unchangeable truths personally and effectively. “Chris Demetriou’s book ‘What Matters Most’ is empowering. It is insightful and practical. These timeless principles are essential wisdom for our lives today.”
I’m convinced that our greatest need today is powerful, persistent, passionate, prevailing prayer. The need is far greater than most of God’s people realise. The moral fibre of our nation has crumbled. Real love and compassion have become almost non-existent. Confusion, greed and upheaval have swept across nations like a tidal wave. If you remember nothing else from this book, please remember this: “When prayer fails, satan prevails.” The demons of hell rejoice when a child of God is prayer-less. The enemy is aware that prayer-less Christians are powerless Christians.
The one thing the apostle Paul did constantly was that he made progress. Progress was his primary goal for life! He knew that completion will not come without progress, and destination will not come without the journey. Progress is ‘advancement’ and it is a necessity when fulfilling God’s plans and purposes. Therefore, progress should be the underlying objective forachieving all your goals. To step into the abundant life that God intended for you, there needs to be an earnest commitment to progress.
How many of you really need God to “super” your natural life? You have
gone as far as you can with your own skills and abilities, now you need
God’s ‘supernatural power’ to click in. The key to living the supernatural
life is effective communication with the Holy Spirit. The various methods that the Spirit of God uses to interact with us are in essence all ‘supernatural ways of communication’. It is always Spirit to spirit. Bear in mind, we are all capable of receiving and perceiving the Holy Spirit’s messages in our human spirits. Isn't that awesome? God’s Spirit has elected to supernaturally communicate specific items of information to every one of us in ways that we can discern.
I know it can get rather stressful and trying while waiting for God to bring
things to pass – but this is where you really have to encourage yourself.
Especially when you start to feel down - just like a professional athlete
does when he starts to go into a slump. The professional athlete can
either quit or talk himself back into the game! Even when God is working
of our behalf, we may have to give ourselves pep talks from time to time,
telling ourselves that God has complete control of our entire situation.
As we increasingly learn to hear God’s voice, we also become increasingly tuned to his program of our lives. Instead of trial and error, we are able to precisely know or be confident of where, why, who with and what God wants todo with us. We therefore, are able to escape avoidable burdens and tragedies in our lives and the lives of those entrusted to us. All believers have a privilege to personally ‘hear’ God through his Spirit and to be led by him in their lives. “Those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God,” (Romans 8:14).
